Madrid, 21 October 2021_.  The closing ceremony of the 4th edition of enlightED, the worldwide conference on education, technology and innovation was celebrated today. Over 3 days, more than 25,000 participants from all around the world and 147 experts from 11 countries, gathered to reflect on the huge education divides in the innovation, competencies and digital spheres.

Renowned thinkers such as Vinton Cerfn, Vice President and Chief Internet Evangelist for Google and Co-founder of the Internet Society Howard Gardner, psychologist, researcher and professor at Harvard University, known in the scientific community for his multiple intelligence theory; Michelle Weise, Vice Chancellor, Strategy & Innovation of the National University System; Daniel Goleman, psychologist and author of ‘Emotional intelligence’; Wendy Kopp, CEO and Co-founder of Teach for All; Wayne Holmes, research consultant and professor at University College London; Olli-Pekka Heinonen, Director General of the International Baccalaureate Organisation; Jeff Maggioncalda, CEO of Coursera; Kiran Bir Sethi, founder of Design for Change; and Hadi Partovi, Founder and Executive Director of Code.org, to name a few, participated in this 4th edition, consolidating enlightED as the biggest worldwide event in educational innovation.  Together with them were representatives from the main educational institutions in the world such as María Brown, Minister for Education of Ecuador; Milton Ribeiro, Minister for Education of Brazil; and Pilar Alegría, Minister for Education of Spain; and they were accompanied by the Chairs of the promoting organisations; José María Álvarez-Pallete, chairman of Telefónica; Santiago Iñiguez, chairman of the IE University; and María Benjumea, founder and CEO of South Summit.

Promoted by Fundación Telefónica, IE University and South Summit, the enlightED Hybrid Edition 2021 programme included 47 round tables and discussion groups and 25 participatory workshops, with connections from Madrid, Buenos Aires, Sao Paulo, London, Montevideo, Mexico City, Quito, Santiago de Chile, Bogotá and San Francisco.  Furthermore, the enlightED Awards for the best practices in entrepreneurship and educational innovation around the world were presented on the last day.
